A breaking news has just come out that Meta will soon launch a separate app for Instagram’s Reels. This will be under ‘Project Ray’. Whether this is true or just a rumor, we will find out soon. Meta is taking this step to compete with TikTok. This app could bring a mix of something new and something old to the market. From this, it’s clear that Meta’s move TikTok could face a major loss..
Instagram has been around in the market for many years and has become the most popular platform for Reels making and social interaction. So, it’s obvious that if Meta launches such an app, it could receive a very good response from viewers.
Meta introduced the first short video feature on Instagram in 2020. Since then, Instagram has had more than 500 million active users daily, which is about one-third of its total audience. This clearly shows that Instagram is hugely popular among the youth and is only growing. According to reports, 50.6% of Instagram users worldwide are male, and 49.4% are female.
The most active users are from India and the US, with 362.9 million users in India and 169.65 million in the US. So, if Meta launches a new app, both India and the US markets will be highly beneficial for Meta.
Instagram has contributed more than 30% to Meta’s revenue, bringing in around $32 billion and which could be half of meta’s revenue soon. So, the most important thing to know is whether Meta will launch this app just for short videos or if it will include some AI features that add something new to short videos, introducing a new technology in the process?”
So for now its really interesting to see how Meta is going to take ‘Project Ray’ to forward. and hope so we would get something new.
